LCO Tribal Chairman Louis Taylor Issues Statement Regarding Federal Funding Pause

Official Statement LCO Tribal Chairman Louis Taylor

The recent presidential executive order has impacted our federal grant funding, presenting challenges to the continuation of certain vital programs and services. As a sovereign nation, the well-being of our community remains our highest priority.

Our tribal government is taking proactive steps to secure the sustainability of our programs and to ensure that assistance to our people remains uninterrupted. We are actively engaging with the Bureau of Indian Affairs and other federal agencies to assess the implications of the executive order on our operations and to explore any potential exceptions to the funding pause.

The Lac Courte Oreilles Tribal Governing Board is not afraid of accountability or review and stands ready to demonstrate compliance and transparency in response to the President's executive order pausing federal funding.

We are committed to keeping our operations flowing and addressing these challenges head-on. Our leadership is working diligently to advocate for the needs of our tribe, and we will continue to prioritize transparency and communication with our community as we navigate this situation.

We appreciate your patience and support during this time. Together, we will persevere and continue building a stronger future for the Lac Courte Oreilles community.

Miigwech,

Louis Taylor

Chairman

Lac Courte Oreilles Tribal Governing Board
