LCO Police Surveillance Leads to Traffic Stop and Fentanyl Seizure

On July 5, 2023, a LCO Investigator was informed by a Sawyer County Sheriff’s Department Deputy that he had conducted a traffic stop on Gregg William Irwin and that the passenger of the vehicle was suspected to be under the influence of illegal drugs. The LCO Investigator observed the vehicle traveling west on State Highway 70 and conducted surveillance on the vehicle as it traveled to North Minneapolis.


Surveillance continued as the vehicle traveled back into Sawyer County. A Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle for multiple violations in accordance to Wisconsin State Statutes. A Sawyer County Detective requested mutual aid from LCO Police Department K9 Falco where there was a positive indication for illegal drugs within the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded in locating 26.3 grams of a white powdery substance that field tested positive for fentanyl.


Gregg William Irwin was taken into custody for suspected Operating While Under the Influence, Possession with intent to deliver fentanyl, and possession of drug paraphernalia.


A passenger in the vehicle identified as Jasmine Kierra Williams from Kenosha, WI was also taken into custody for possession with intent to deliver fentanyl and possession of drug paraphernalia.
