Community Fun Day Held at Lac Courte Oreilles

By Jennifer Cadotte LCO PR Specialist

On Tuesday, July 8, families and community members from across Lac Courte Oreilles came together for a memorable evening of laughter, connection, and celebration at the Tribal Office Pavilion during the Family Fun Day. With over 250 attendees, the event was a joyful display of community spirit and togetherness.

Children and adults alike enjoyed a wide variety of games and activities, including relay races, corn hole, axe throwing, a bouncy house, and a water activity center. One of the biggest hits of the day was the dunk tank, where community leaders volunteered to take the plunge for a good cause—and a lot of laughs. Among those who stepped up to get soaked were LCO Ojibwe School Superintendent Jessica Hutchison, LCO Chief of Police Susie Taylor, and LCO TGB Secretary/Treasurer Michelle Beaudin, who all embraced the fun and the opportunity to connect with community members in a playful way.

The event was topped off with a delicious dinner and a variety of prizes, making it a truly festive and family-friendly occasion. “Can you do this again next month?” asked several enthusiastic youth.

Organizers said chi-miigwech goes out to all who made the day possible. The event’s success was thanks to the collaboration of numerous LCO departments and partners including LCO ICW & Family Services, LCO TGB, TANF, Mino Maajisewin, Oakwood Haven, FACE, Child Support, Country Store, NWCFRC, and the Boys and Girls Club of Lac Courte Oreilles.
