LCO School to Get New Gym Floor

The LCO Ojibwe School Theresa Williams Gymnasium will soon have a new gym floor upgrade complete with the updated school logo and signage.

The $109,000 project is being done by JWood Sports Flooring out of Hudson, Wis. Enbridge funds will be used to cover the costs.

“The floor was rotting out and was a liability issue,” said Jason Schlender, LCO Vice Chairman. “It may have also been a possible finding in a safety audit, so the tribal governing board agreed it was something we needed to complete.”

Schlender said the construction would begin at the end of the current school year.

“It’s a great addition to our community because the Theresa Williams Gymnasium is a central facility for the tribe that hosts powwows, sporting events, graduations, and community events,” Schlender said.
