The Lac Courte Oreilles Community Health Center is pleased to announce the addition of three new healthcare providers to its medical team. Their arrival marks a continued commitment to expanding access to quality care for the community.
Please join us in welcoming these new professionals to the LCO Health Center and the greater community.
> Dr. Kevin Krugg, DDS, will join the dental team and shared some highlights from his life and career:
Just like so many others before me, I emigrated to the Northwoods after decades of vacationing on the beautiful Chippewa Flowage. Originally from the Chicago area, I maintained a family dental practice in the Chicago suburbs for over 25 years. In 2021, it was time for me to find a dentist to take over the practice, giving me the opportunity to retire. As fortune would have it, my wife (Joanne) and I were offered the chance to purchase a home on the Flowage, a home that we had often admired while we vacationed here. After remodeling the house, we moved here permanently in May of 2023. It's been a smooth transition into the community, and we feel very much at home now. We've found our favorite restaurants, places for live music, and enjoy the variety of street festivals and area events.
While very much enjoying being retired, I was contacted by the Lac Courte Oreilles Community Health Center offering me the opportunity to use my skills to provide care to the community. After a tour of the brand new, state-of-the-art facility, it was an easy decision to join the dental health care team. Helping people with their dental health and making sure the patient has a positive experience is what I am committed to. I'd encourage you to come see the new Community Health Center for yourself. It's a beautiful facility with a great staff committed to taking care of people.
> Dr. Timothy Johnson, DDS, will join the dental team. Some background about his work and passion include:
Working as a general dentist who is returning to the Lac Courte Oreilles Tribal Dental Clinic after serving 15 years as the Dental Director at the St. Croix Tribal Dental Clinic. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry and has provided care in northern Wisconsin since 2008. Dr. Johnson is passionate about guiding patients toward healthier lifestyles and has volunteered to use his dental skills both locally and abroad. When not in the clinic, he enjoys spending time outdoors—especially hiking, camping, and fishing.
Dr. Johnson looks forward to onboarding with our team in the next few weeks.
> Heidi Dumas, APNP will join the nursing staff in the first week of November 2025. Heidi’s history includes:
I have over three decades of diverse nursing experience in my role as a Certified Nurse Practitioner. A graduate of Webster High School, I began my career as a Certified Nursing Assistant, driven by a deep desire to care for others. That drive led me to pursue my Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and then my Registered Nurse (RN) credentials, gaining valuable experience in triage, labor and delivery, clinical surgery, pediatrics, and family practice. With a passion to continue expanding my knowledge and impact, I returned to school to earn my master's degree in nursing and became a Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP).
Throughout my career, I’ve embraced a variety of unique and meaningful roles—from providing care in correctional facilities and factory settings, to conducting in-home safety assessments and serving rural communities. Over the last decade, I’ve focused my work in tribal health, serving as a provider at Rocky Boy Tribal Health Center in Montana and most recently at the St. Croix Tribal Health Center in Webster, Wisconsin.
I am committed to helping patients achieve and maintain their health through education, preventative care, chronic disease management, mental health and substance use support and promoting healthy lifestyles and weight management. My goal is to meet patients where they are and walk alongside them on their health journey.
Outside of work, I live in Minong with my husband of 34 years and our German Shepherd, Zoe. I enjoy the outdoors, gardening, hiking, paddleboarding, and taking long walks in the Northwoods.
I’m excited for new opportunities to grow and continue making a difference in the lives of my patients and the communities I serve.
