There's Still Time to Apply for Energy Assistance

If you are facing hardship due to the COVID-19 and have not applied for this year’s heating season 2019-2020, we are encouraging you to contact this office of the Energy Assistance Program, which is administered by the State of Wisconsin Department of Administration, to apply. We will only be using the last month’s income which would mean that most likely you will qualify for assistance depending on the household size. So please contact this office as soon as possible to see if you would qualify.

You can also view more about the Energy Assistance Program via the website: homeenergyplus@wi.govhomeenergyplus.wi.us

In response to the COVID-19, the Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP) is encouraging agencies to use discretion when considering in-person intake process. As of today, April 8, 2020, we will only be taking phone applications or mailed applications. The division has temporarily waived the Photo Identification and changed the income eligibility period from the last three months to the previous one month of income. Policy requirement if this is a first-time application, we will only do intake process with vendors and employers by way of phone or E-mail.

We will continue to process Emergency Crisis applications over the phone only, as well as Emergency Furnace calls.

I will be available for questions via email @ cindy.miller@lco-nsn.gov or by phone 715-634-8934 ext: 7474, or patsy.crone@lco-nsn.gov ext:7434

Thank you for your understanding and commitment to the health and safety or our community.

Cindy Miler

Energy Assistance Director
