TGB Responds to Community Concerns Over Saturation Patrols During Powwow

LCO TGB

Statement

The Lac Courte Oreilles Tribal Governing Board (TGB) is aware of the recent increased patrol activity by law enforcement on our Lac Courte Oreilles Reservation.

The TGB strongly supports the efforts of law enforcement to keep our communities safe. However, it appears to be a saturation patrol by law enforcement focused on our community while we are hosting a significant cultural event.

The TGB is addressing the concerns of the community with our LCO Tribal Police Department.

Any citations issued by law enforcement during the saturation patrols on our Reservation should be prosecuted in our Lac Courte Oreilles Tribal Court. The TGB welcomes the comprehensive support offered by the Sawyer County Sheriff's Department, as well as the invitation they extended to our Police to assist in increased patrols for the Lumberjack Logrolling Championships being held in Hayward next week.

The Tribal Governing Board encourages saturation patrolling for ALL events in all communities throughout Sawyer County for the safety of our residents and visitors.

Our law enforcement personnel stand ready to protect our Reservation and the County borders from drugs, alcohol, and all criminal activity that harm our communities and our families.
