TGB Issues Statement Encouraging Community to be Safe and Take Care

The LCO Tribal Governing Board recognizes that the recent outbreak of COVID-19 poses a threat to the health, safety and well-being of the Tribe and the community at large as it continues to spread rapidly throughout our local and neighboring communities, therefore, the TGB strongly encourages all residents of the Lac Courte Oreilles Reservation to continue practicing safety measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19. These safety measures include wearing a face covering, social distancing at least six feet from other individuals, washing hands with soap and water for at least twenty seconds as frequently as possible or using hand sanitizer, covering coughs or sneezes into sleeves or elbows, regularly cleaning high touched surfaces, and not shaking hands, and

It is highly recommended that persons leave their homes or places of residence only for essential reasons and that any travel outside the community is strongly discouraged, but if you do, please be safe and follow recommended guidelines for preventing the spread of the virus.

The TGB recognizes this pandemic has affected everyone in our community in some way, whether it be loss of work and/or income, displacement or loss of a loved one, and we appreciate all the ways members of this community continue to help each other whether through their work, helping a neighbor and/or elder with food, personal items and housing. Please continue to be safe and take care of each other. We will get through this difficult time together.
