The LCO Tribal Governing Board presented the Hayward Sports Center a check for $10,000 on Monday, April 4th, to assist youth hockey.

Representatives from the youth hockey program in Hayward were present to receive the donation. Patrick Sheehan said the money will help them extend ice time at the rink. He explained the arena ice time lasts from October to March, but with the donation, they would now start a month earlier and run through April.

Podge Turnbull said the money will also help fund their three-on-three hockey leagues while Nick Sutton added that it also helps fund developmental camps. He said since the announcement of the funds, they've had 51 kids sign up for the camp. The youth are coming from all over the Northland, including Rice Lake, Ashland, Spooner as well as LCO.

Turnbull stated there are currently over 120 kids involved in the Hayward youth hockey program, which includes many kids from LCO.
