Rusk County Man Donates to Food Basket Program

Updated: May 30, 2020

Cheyenne Taylor reports that the Emergency Food Basket Program received a generous donation of maple syrup, hamburger, chicken, canned vegetables and squash from Rusk County resident David Cook. Taylor said Cook donates a percentage of his maple syrup to area Tribes every year.

Taylor also said the Tribe is receiving a donation of hundreds of gallons of milk and thousands of cheese sticks each week to donate in addition to the weekly food baskets. In the first week of the donation, the program distributed 432 gallons of milk and 2,500 packages of cheese sticks. This week, on Friday, May 29, the distribution totaled 436 gallons of milk and 2,590 packages of cheese sticks. The Hunger Task Force has made the donations of milk and cheese to the Tribe.

Taylor thanked her volunteers who help her make the distribution of the milk and cheese at the LCO Travel Plaza on Hwy B and K.
