Registration Still Open for Food 4 Kids Summer Program

The Hayward Community Food Shelf’s Food 4 Kids program had its final pack of the 2022-2023 school year on May 19, 2023. Joan Ackerman, F4K Director, was pleased to report that 5,489 bags were packed for a total weight of 40,795.4 lbs of weekend meals for students in the Hayward area. Ackerman noted that the F4K program is happy to be able to provide the program to students who need food assistance.

The F4K program is now in its summer phase. Students who attend one of the Hayward public schools, LCO schools, Northern Lights Christian Academy or St. Francis Mission school or is home schooled through one of those schools are eligible for this program. The program began Saturday, June 3rd. However, parents/guardians can still register their child/children at the Shelf during its regular hours.

HCFS will provide over 20 pounds of food each month to each participant. The F4K boxes can be picked up by parents/guardian each month during the summer. To make arrangements for your child’s F4K box to be picked up by someone else, please call 715-634-4237.

F4K is part of the Hayward Community Food Shelf’s program of providing food assistance to those in need. This program is in addition to the general program offered each month to families. Like all HCFS programs, this program is totally funded through donations and totally operated by volunteers.

HCFS is located at 16216W Highway 63S in Hayward. HCFS is open every Monday and the first Saturday of the month from 9:00 am until noon. (Note: The Food Shelf will be closed July 3rd for the 4th of July holiday.)
