Public Notice Issued by LCO Pharmacy Regarding Freestyle Libre Medical Devices

Public Notice issued by LCO Pharmacy

Abbott has issued a voluntary Medical Device Correction to provide information about risks associated with the lithium-ion batteries contained in the Freestyle Libre and the Freestyle Libre 2 glucose monitoring system readers.

Like all lithium-ion batteries they may present a fire hazard if they are damaged. If there are not any signs of damage, there is no need to replace the reader.

To determine if your reader needs to be replaced, please answer the following questions:

1. Does your reader appear damaged or cracked?

2. Do you see any swelling of your reader?

3. Has your reader been too hot to hold?

4. Is your reader no longer able to hold a charge? Does it turn off unexpectedly or immediately after charging?

If you answered yes to any of the questions or if your reader failed, please immediately discontinue use and call LCO Pharmacy at 715-638-5146 for a replacement.

Further information can to obtained by calling LCO Pharmacy at 715-638-5146 or Abbott Customer Care at 1-855-632-8658.
