A representative of the Loan Committee for the Wisconsin Native Loan Fund (WINLF) visited with the LCO Tribal Governing Board (TGB) at their weekly meeting on Monday, Jan. 6, to share information about loan opportunities available to tribal members.

Charlie Warner, Vice President with Chippewa Valley Bank, said WINLF will work with tribal members even if you have credit issues. They also have credit counseling and budget training services available.

“Loans are available to tribal members and about 80 to 90% of those who apply, get approved,” Warner stated. He explained that WINLF has a very different format than banks and one purpose they have is to provide loans to those who normally wouldn’t qualify. He also stated an applicant doesn’t need to be turned down by a bank first. Loans available include home, auto and small business.

WINLF is headquartered in Lac du Flambeau, Wis. The organization was created to provide lending opportunities to tribal members throughout Wisconsin and to promote financial self-sufficiency and improve economic and social conditions on Indian Reservations in the state.

Warner said WINLF has extra money and is ready to loan it out. If you have any questions you may contact WINLF at 715-588-1600 or you may contact Charlie Warner at Chippewa Valley Bank at 866-282-3501 ext. 7001.
