University Becomes the First Tribal College to Join Cohort of SFI Schools

Agreement Would Provide StudentsWith Financial Tools and Work Opportunities


(Hayward, Wisconsin)--Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe University has become the first tribal college (TCU) to sign a memorandum of agreement with Student FreedomInitiative (SFI) to support the financial and work needs of Native American students. This partnership also follows a long-standing commitment of SFI to investing in minority-serving institutions (MSIs) and builds on future program investments. The goal of the partnership is to support student financial needs beyond paying for college by providing new technological equipment and teaching students how to invest their money, how to grow a network and the importance of relationship building. Every student is deserving of a quality education, and through this partnership, SFI is committed to building a future filled with prosperity. On Monday, August 7, 2023, university officials will host SFI representatives for an event signing. There will be an information session following the event–media is welcome to attend.
