LCO Development Corporation has been contracted to do the renovation of the old Boys and Girls Club for the new LCO Child Support Program location. The 4654 square foot location is next to the newly-renovated LCO Financial Services location within the building.

Last month the tribal council unanimously approved a plan for the LCO Child Support program to relocate their offices into the newly-remodeled old Boys and Girls Club building which is located just west of the tribal office and college on Trepania Road.

Child Support Director Sue Smith said the program secured grant funding for the renovation of space in the building with their own entrance to the left of the FS headquarters. The current Child Support offices are located in the tribal administration building.

The grant funding amount is $490,000, and will cover framing, electrical, drywall, plumbing, ceiling, doors, windows and a kitchenette.

The LCO Tribal Governing Board will cover $59,000 of the total cost of $549,172, which will include a furnace, AC unit and duct work at $15,000; concrete removal at $6,172; flooring at $28,000; and a sidewalk at $10,000.

Smith said there will be ten new offices renovated in the space.

“This will give us the ability to have more staff and maintain those staff,” Smith said.

Smith said the re-design of the new space will take three to four months. She added the target date for the move is December 1 of this year.

“The move will allow us to enhance some of our services including a fatherhood program and also more co-parenting and employment service resources,” Smith stated.

There will a large vacant space between FS and the Child Support program until the TGB decides what will happen there.
