Duluth Drug Bust Aided by LCO Police Seizes Large Amount of Fentanyl, Meth, Cash

Editor’s Note: The following drug bust occurred in Duluth with assistance from Lac Courte Oreilles Police’s drug investigator. LCO Police Chief Tim DeBrot confirmed Duluth is one of the areas where drugs at LCO are coming from and that this investigation continues in our local community. It is currently unknown if this drug investigation has led to any arrests at Lac Courte Oreilles yet.

At approximately 1 p.m., Thursday, November 30, members of the Lake Superior Violent Offender Task Force, along with numerous other agencies, arrested four individuals: 33-year-old Jonathan Thompson, 39-year-old Bruce Thompson, 25-year-old Eric Thompson Jr, and 26-year-old Dejuan Peters for pending charges of 1st Degree Sale of a Controlled Substance.


Search warrants were executed at two residences within the City of Duluth, and during the arrests and execution of the search warrants, 864.4 grams of fentanyl, 858.3 grams of methamphetamine, 102 M30/Mbox synthetic fentanyl pills, $21,578 in US currency, and four handguns were seized.


During this month’s-long investigation, law enforcement uncovered evidence that these four individuals, who are part of a Drug Trafficking Organization, were responsible for transporting and selling over 10-kilograms of fentanyl and 20-kilograms of methamphetamine.


Agencies who assisted include the Duluth Police Department, Superior Police Department, Red Cliff Tribal Police Department, Lac Courte Oreilles Tribal Police Department, St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office and their K9 Division, MSP Airport Police, US Bureau of Indian Affairs, and Homeland Security Investigations.
