The Lac Courte Oreilles Tribal Governing Board (TGB) unanimously approved a plan for the LCO Child Support program to relocate their offices into the newly-remodeled old Boys and Girls Club building which is now the new headquarters for LCO Financial Services (FS). The building is located just west of the tribal office and college on Trepania Road.

Child Support Director Sue Smith said the program secured grant funding for the renovation of space in the building with their own entrance to the left of the FS headquarters. The current Child Support offices are located in the tribal administration building.

Smith said there will be ten new offices renovated in the space.

“This will give us the ability to have more staff and maintain those staff,” Smith said. She noted the program hired more staff in July and they are beginning to train.

Smith said the re-design of the new space will take three to four months. She added the target date for the move is December 1 of this year.

“Following the procurement process, we hope LCO Development meets our requirements to do the renovation,” Smith added.

Smith said the project will be completed over two budgets, 2019 and 2020. What’s not completed this year will be completed using the 2020 budget.

“The move will allow us to enhance some of our services including a fatherhood program and also more co-parenting and employment service resources,” Smith stated.

There will a large vacant space between FS and the Child Support program until the TGB decides what will happen there.
