Hard to believe it's been 14 years since the start of the Youth and Education Golf Tournament at Big Fish. This is a great tournament that pretty much kicks off the summer season happening the first weekend in June. It's a lot of fun for all those who participate and the best part, the money raised helps out with youth activities on the reservation and provides scholarships to community members wishing to further their education.

The LCO TGB put out a notice for tribal members to apply for these scholarships. The notice states:

In 2006, the Tribal Governing Board established the Youth and Education Scholarship Fund to provide additional resources for youth programs and for scholarships for enrolled LacCourte Oreilles members. The Scholarship is funded solely through donations received in connection with the Annual Youth and Education Golf Classic.

The Tribal Governing Board invests a percentage of the proceeds from the Golf Classic to build a fund principle, which will provide revenue for generations to come. The remaining percentage of the proceeds, at the Tribal Governing Board's discretion, will be used to fund:

(a) Education Scholarships in the amount of $500.00 per recipient; and or (b) youth activities.

Eligibility for the scholarships includes tribal members and those enrolled or accepted into a college or university; or a technical or vocational school or program working towards an undergraduate or post-graduate degree; or certification or license.
