New CARES Act Distribution Update

Just a reminder we are still currently under the COVID19 pandemic, so there will be no walk-ins allowed for the distribution of checks at the tribal office. All checks will be mailed after the verification form is verified and processed.

Any person who is an officially enrolled tribal member of the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians as of June 1, 2020 will be eligible for the CARES Act COVID-19 Emergency Relief Funds. All adults 18 years and older who have completed a verification form, your check will be mailed this week. The forms will be processed in order that they are received. All checks, whether you reside in-state or out-of-state, will be mailed to the mailing address on the verification form.

Emergency Relief Verification Forms are available on the LCO Tribal website (www.lcotribe.com) and can be picked up at the Tribal office front entrance. Wear protective masks if you come to the Tribal Government Office. Following COVID precautions, we prefer that you mail your verification; however, you can submit your form to the front office, fax, or mail it to:

Mail to: LCO Tribal CARES ACT Emergency Relief Assistance

13394 Trepania Road

Hayward, WI 54843

FAX: 715-634-4797

Children’s checks are still being processed at this time and I will provide an update as soon as I can. Parents, guardians, or legal custodians must fill out a form and provide verification of enrollment for EACH minor child. You must also provide legal documentation concerning legal guardianship, physical placement or other out of home placement. Please do not write the child’s information on the adult verification form. Child checks will be mailed to the address on the verification form.

Please contact the Tribal Enrollment Office with any updates to your address, to confirm your tribal ID number, update, and/or to schedule an appointment for a new tribal ID card at 715-634-8934, extension 7459 or 7429.

The deadline for verifications is SEPTEMBER 1, 2020.
