NAFWS Great Lakes Regional Conference held at Sevenwinds Convention Center

The 2022 Great Lakes Regional Conference of the Native American Fish and Wildlife Society (NAFWS) was held at the Sevenwinds Casino Convention Center over the week of Sep. 19 to Sep. 22.

The event was hosted by the LCO Tribe and featured many events featuring many technical trainings, a shoot contest, which saw local warden Henry Bearhart qualify for the National Event in Alaska, raffles and auctions, and entertainment from well-known comedian Rob, “The Rez Reporter” Fairbanks.

The silent auction raised funds for regional scholarships.

The NAFWS thanked the Tribe and LCO Conservation for hosting the conference and to all their sponsors for their support including the U.S. Indian Affairs, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, First Nations Development Institute, IJC - International Joint Commission and National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.

“A special thank you also goes out to the staff of the Sevenwinds Casino, Lodge & Conference Center who worked diligently to make this conference a success despite the challenges of being understaffed,” the NAFWS stated on their Facebook page.

The LCO Conservation Department stated, “Another NAFWS Great Lakes Regional Conference is in the books! Thanks to those that attended, donated, worked hard to make this conference a success!”
