The Southern Sawyer County Little League Championship Tournament will take place on Saturday, June 19, at the newly-renovated LCO Ball Fields on Hwy B, a quarter-mile east of the Sevenwinds Casino.

All five teams in the league will be competing in the double elimination tournament beginning at 9:00 a.m. with youth baseball action taking place in both fields.

The first round of the tournament will take place on Thursday night with the number #2 and #3 teams hosting home games. The team that finished #1 on the season, Exeland, will advance directly into the Saturday tournament.

On Thursday, #2 LCO 1 will host #5 LCO 2 while #3 Ojibwa will host #4 Birchwood.

Exeland finished the 2021 season undefeated going 8-0 while both LCO 1 and Ojibwa finished 5 wins, 3 losses. The two teams split their series against each other 9 to 3 LCO 1, 17-11 Ojibwa and since they both scored 20 runs in the two-game series, a tie breaker was decided by the best runs scored for and against, which LCO 1 captured.

Everyone is invited to come by the LCO Ball Fields and cheer on the youth baseball players of Southern Sawyer County. While there, the LCO Youth Baseball Association invites you to enjoy all the new changes happening at the fields, including the new digital scoreboards, a brand new Babe Ruth field, a collegiate-level batting cage, new bean bag toss games and a remodeled concession stand.

The concession stand, known as Chuxie’s Diner, will be serving a full menu from their newly remodeled kitchen, featuring fry bread, Indian Tacos, burgers, chili, hot dogs, brats, pizza, and a whole lot of snacks for the kids.

The LCO Youth Baseball Association also announces they will be hosting the Summer Slam Festival from July 7-11 at the LCO Ball Fields featuring co-ed softball, little league and Babe Ruth tournaments, corn hole tournament, a flea and farmer’s market, a bounce house carnival with a dozen carnival games, dunk tank, National Guard rock wall, a kids area, live music, concessions, pancake breakfast, Friday night Walleye Fish Fry and more to be announced. Official posters and announcements are coming out this next week.

Chuxie's Diner will be open all day Saturday, June 19th
