LCO Police K9 Foundation Created, Requesting Board Members
LCO Police
Press Release
Police K-9’s perform a critical role in keeping our communities safe and are an invaluable asset to our local law enforcement. Our K-9’s assist in locating suspects, narcotics, weapons, missing persons, critical evidence, and much more. The Lac Courte Oreilles Police K-9 Foundation is being created as a tax-exempt non-profit corporation for charitable purposes. The foundation is being created to support the K-9 Units for the Lac Courte Oreilles Tribal Police Department with the purpose to identify and prioritize special needs that are not funded through the departments ordinary budgeting process. This will include but is not limited to: Bullet/ Stab Resistant Vests, K-9 Medical Equipment, Training and/or Training Equipment, Expenses for Retired K-9’s, and the sustainability for the future.
The Lac Courte Oreilles Tribal Police Department currently has three K-9’s. K-9 Jackson, K-9 Bak, and K-9 Falco. K-9 Bak and his handler will be attending training in Ohio through August and September. In the near future we hope to have community events to help support our efforts for the Lac Courte Oreilles K-9 Foundation.
At this time we are reaching out to community members that would have an interest in being a Board Member for the Lac Courte Oreilles K-9 Foundation. If this is something you may be interested in you can email K-9 Investigator Chris Leverton at lcopd534@lco-nsn.gov or Officer Susie Taylor at lcopd533@lco-nsn.gov with a brief explanation as to why you would like to serve on the Board. Please provide contact information and you will be contacted shortly thereafter. If you do not wish to be on the Board but would like to assist at upcoming events please email us your contact information and we will keep you up to date.
Without your help this would not be possible.
