The LCO LL Team defeated Ladysmith 8-0 to move onto the Southern Sawyer County Little League Championship where they will host the game on Tuesday, July 28, at the Casino Ball fields.

The playoffs are double elimination and LCO hasn’t lost yet, so they will have two chances to win the title. Ladysmith won their next game to earn the right for a rematch and face LCO in the championship game.

On Tuesday night, LCO traveled to Ladysmith and took an early lead with one run in the 2nd inning and cushioned that lead with three more runs in the 3rd. Leading 4-0 at the start of the fourth, Bradley Trepania and John Peterson both got in base and McKayl Taylor followed with a double knocking in both runners to go up 6-0. With two outs, and Taylor still on second, Owen Boswell came up to the plate and knocked out an in-the-park home run increasing the lead to 8-0. Awesome LCO defense led by Trepania and Devin Schmitt on the pitcher’s mound led to Ladysmith failing to score in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings which sealed up the victory. With the league’s five-run rule, Ladysmith would not be able to overcome an 8-point deficit in the final inning.

The LCO Boys and Girls Club Little League team needs as much fan support as they can get. Come on down to the ball fields and support LCO’s only active sports team this year. There will be full concession stand with plenty of food, snacks and beverages. Come support your young relatives as they roll on in their quest for the Southern Sawyer County Little League Championship Trophy.
