LCO Elder Services Monthly Report

Boozhoo to you all, Thank you for taking the time to read some updates regarding the LCO Elder Services Center. I am pleased to announce our Elder & Disabled Lawn service will commence this week, currently we have over 35 lawns throughout LCO that our contractor Ed Martin provides lawn care for, the lawn service will run from Memorial Day weekend up until late august, and it will be coordinated every other week, we ask for your patience and understanding during the summer/fall season, also the yard needs to be free of debris and garbage prior to servicing, LCO Housing elder tenants are eligible through LCO Housing Authority. If you have any questions regarding Lawn Care services please do not hesitate to contact either me or Doreen Wolfe, (715) 957-0077/ (715) 957-0027.

The LCO Elder Center will be receiving a parking lot makeover which will include ADA accessible entryways and handicapped accessible bathrooms, this project is much needed and will provide more parking spots and paved driveways for our service vehicles and clients who travel to participate in services and daily meals, Miigwech to the LCO Tribal Governing Board & LCO Development for making this happen.

Great Lakes Native American Elders Association (GLNAEA) will be hosted on June 5th & 6th at the LCO Sevenwinds Casino, the Wednesday event is free and open to the public, there will be a presentation on Alzheimer’s awareness & disease awareness/prevention by Dr. Sanjay Asthana, on Thursday, June 6th the GLNAEA event is held in the convention center. We will provide the lunch for the Elders but you must have your own money available for your gambling experience. I will be on travel/training from Wednesday May 29th and returning May 31st, attending the CMS/ITU – Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Services, I.H.S., Tribes, and Urban Natives conference in Bemidji, MN, if you should need immediate assistance please contact Alberta Stone (715) 865-3379 or Doreen Wolfe (715) 957-0027.

LCO Kinnamon Memorial Day services was a success considering the weather elements that took place during the event. I participated as one of the speakers and I was very honored to speak on behalf of the fallen veterans from Lac Courte Oreilles, Miigwech to the LCO AMVETS Post 1998, and Faith Smith, and Val Barber for organizing and coordinating a successful event.

Respectfully,
