Boozhoo and Good Morning,

I am pleased to announce we officially re-opened on Monday October 19th, 2020, this was due to a 14 day mandatory self-quarantine of all of our department staff. We very much appreciate your patience, support and understanding during that time, nothing can actually prepare any employee and/or community member for when things happen within a moment’s notice, and thankfully we are all safe and sound and still adhering to COVID-19 protocols with mandatory mask use, social distancing, and constant hand sanitizing. We would like to extend a special thank you and gratitude to those departments and staff who offered to assist with our weekly Home Delivered Meal lunches during our temporary closure.

The 2021 Fiscal Year has begun, which starts every October 1st and runs until September 30th , the Tribal funding allows our department to assist Lac Courte Oreilles Tribal Elder & Disabled community members with Home & Auto repairs, Snowplowing services, Lawncare services, and Firewood. There have been some significant changes regarding the usage of funds, and both Home & Auto repair funds can now be combined for the total of $1350 towards either and/or repair. Please contact our offices for more information.

Boozhoo,

We must start getting ready for the winter months that are just around the corner. I hear rumors that it is going to be a nasty one this year. Make sure your automobiles have good tires and get a tune up if needed. Make sure you change your filters in your furnaces. Start clearing out your driveways so that our plows can do a clean sweep through. Most importantly if you have to go outside make sure you bundle up with layers of clothing because you can always take some off if it gets too warm.

Here are some important dates to remember:

· Medicare Open Enrollment starts October 15, 2020.

· 2020 United States presidential election is Tuesday, November 3, 2020.

· 2020-2021 Fiscal year starts October 1st, 2020 through September 30th, 2021.

· Recycling Services for our Elder and Disabled clients will run on the calendar year, January 1st through December 31st.

Our Recycling Services for the punch card and the bags will run on the calendar year from January through December. If you have not picked up your card and bags for this year you still have time to pick them up until the end of this year.

We will be meeting with our contracted snowplows soon for this upcoming snow season. Make sure you call us if you are not on the list. You must be 62 years old and you must reside on the reservation to be eligible for this service.

We have revised our policies to include services for Auto Repair for Caregivers. The client of the caregiver must be a tribal member, 62 years of age or older, or a disabled member who can show proof with a SSA Award Letter or VA Award Letter. Their primary residence must be within the external boundaries of the reservation. The elder or disabled must not be able to drive, or do not have a vehicle and require a caregiver for transportation. A sworn affidavit must be signed by the client for the caregiver to receive auto repair.
