Happy New Year!!  From all of us at Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe College Extension we wish you good health, peace, and prosperity for 2020!  We hope to see you at the college soon!


LCOOCC Extension’s mission is to empower members of the Lac Courte Oreilles and surround communities through embracing the traditional values and language of the Anishinaabe people.


All workshops and events are provided through the college’s 1994 land grant funding through the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture and through a traditional arts grant from the American Indian College Fund.


Workshops are open to the community!  You do not have to be a student to attend our workshops.  To register for a workshop – reply to this email, or email ext@lco.edu, or stop in to Rm 615, or call us at 715-634-4790 Ext 121.

Upcoming January courses include:  Intro to Hemp Production (1/15 and 1/16 – full days), Gashkibijiganikewin in LDF with Phyllis Wyse which is preparing for feasts – make tobacco pouches, plate/utensil bags, and ribbon skirts or shirts (fees covered by AICF grant) – Courses are $63


A new Intro to Moccasin Making 1 credit course will also start with Ramona Morrow on January 23rd from 5-8pm and will run for 5 consecutive Thursday’s.  Course fees covered by AICF grant.


Extension – Community Education


Tai Chi is every Tuesday from 4-5pm – starts back up on 1/21/20  in the Auditorium – come when you can!  Dress appropriately in comfortable clothing and tennis shoes. 


New!  Community workout 2nd session at Malnourie Gymrage STARTS January 20th!!– choose a Monday/ Wed 9am or 6:30pm session.  This is a 6 week series – recommend attending 2 times per week.  Liability release forms will be signed at the gym prior to attending.  Wear gym shoes and workout clothes.


Tuesday’s at the Farm starts January 7th with Candle Making and Macramé from 5-8pm – All supplies provided.  Other Tuesday offerings include Dehydrating Veggies and Fruits, Simply Italiano, and Meatless Meals.  There will be a class at the farm every Tuesday now through May!


Beading Circle –5-8pm every Wednesday in the 600 wing.  Bring your project or start a new one!  Supplies and a meal are provided.  Parking is provided in the northeast parking lot.
