Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College recently received a $30,000 Otto Bremer Trust Grant.

The Otto Bremer Trust Grant’s purpose is to provide micro-grants to assist students with emergency expenses that might threaten their ability to be successful in college.

“An unexpected car repair or medical bill can be the difference between staying in school or dropping out,” said Charlotte Johnson, co-CEO and trustee, OBT. “The college’s emergency fund helps students confronted with these challenges, and with a 91 percent retention or graduation rate among those who received a grant, that’s an excellent return on a small investment.”

The Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College Emergency Aid program provides student with up to $500 in emergency aid toward unexpected expenses such as child care, auto expenses, medical expenses, utility assistance, food or supplies, transportation, and more.
