Governor Sees Tribal Leaders as Equals

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers told a gathering of tribal leaders and state officials that he sees the leaders of the state's 11 tribes as equals and that's how he intends to work with the tribes.

"Your concerns are my concerns," Evers said at a reception held at the Governor's Mansion following the annual State of the Tribes Address at the State Capitol.

Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes also addressed the tribal leaders and stated he has built many friendships among the tribes as he travels the state and visits the reservations.

"These are collaborations that began last year and continue to grow," Barnes said. He added there is much more to be done and he was more than confident in the people in the room.
