Every year at the Honor the Earth Powwow and Homecoming Celebration, someone is remembered in a Memorial Giveaway of gifts from the family. Dr. Mike Sullivan, Master of Ceremonies, explained that the powwow is dedicated to the memory of one of our community members and the 2020 virtual event held on Saturday, July 17, that person was Gary Gouge.

Gouge's family members gathered at the powwow grounds and thanked many persons in the community and also presented them with a giveaway.

Sullivan said everyone who knew Gary, knew he was an easy, rememberable kind of guy with kind words when you needed to hear them.

Sullivan read a biography at the virtual live stream written by the family. He said most of the memories of Gary were of him laughing and having a good time.

"He was of kind spirit and always encouraged people to do better and be better," Sullivan stated.
