FEMA Holds Emergency Management Training

LCO Emergency Management Coordinator, Matthew Reidell and Councilman Jason Weaver attended an extensive week long training at the Homeland security center for Domestic Preparedness in Anniston, AL. The training focused on Native communities and was attended by 46 different Tribal Nations and was provided free of charge, as well as the travel expenses. The specific course was instruction and exercises in public information in incident management.

Matthew and Jason have been active in the Wisconsin Tribal Emergency Management Association for many years and are both highly trained in FEMA, Emergency Management, Incident Command Systems, National Incident Management Systems and Emergency Operations.

"With the threat of flooding, tornadoes, wildfires and other disasters affecting our community it makes sense to prepare and be ready to respond as soon as possible,” said Weaver. “Coordination between the Tribes, townships, county, state and federal agencies insure that our community will be taken care of in a timely fashion.”
